Planning More Effective Delivery for Climate Change

16 Feb 2022

Planning More Effective Delivery for Climate Change A presentation for the RTPI in Northern Ireland. Discusses the need for better action on climate change – pointing out that some of the most pressing short-term priorities concern human wellbeing in buildings, and biodiversity – both matters that can be addressed by planning. Discusses the need for climate mainstreaming – ensuring that it is seen not as its own subject, but something that affects all policies. Discusses successful tools for climate adaptation: they must involve collaboration, usable guidance, and compatability with existing systems; they must not need additional resources and must be kept up to date. Examples are GIPPAT, BwN and Nature-Tool. Good practice examples from Derry City.
